BICENTENNIAL EVENTS

St. John's is celebrating its bicentennial with a year-long Special Events & Speaker Series. Upcoming events listed below.
St. John's Welcomes Dr. Martin Marty on Sept 17, 2008. Dr. Marty is author of more than 50 books and is recognized as the foremost name in Lutheran theology in the United States. His many awards include the National Humanities Medal, the National Book Award and the Medal of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is also the Fairfax M. Cone Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus at the University of Chicago, where he taught chiefly in the Divinity School for 35 years and where the Martin Marty Center has since been founded to promote public religion endeavors.Doors open at 6:00 p.m. True Praise Worship Band will play prior to Dr. Marty speaking at 7:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
