Opened in 1986, Dufford Terrace Apartments is a senior apartment complex for independent living consisting of one and two bedroom apartments and bolsters of many different styles. You will find interior access to St. John's Lutheran Church and The Village at Luther Square (formerly known as The Lutheran Home). In addition, the apartments are within walking distance of St. Vincent Health Center and several churches of other denominations.
Philosophy of Dufford Terrace Dufford Terrace Apartments is a nonprofit organization of Erie, Pennsylvania.
As a housing complex sponsored by St. John's Lutheran Church, it seeks to
provide an environment for the elderly and the handicapped capable of
independent living.
Sensitive to the dignity and to the worth of individuals, Housing and
Neighborhood Development Service (HANDS), the management agent of Dufford
Terrace, aims to promote a secure, creative leisure experience for the
residents. Through staff / resident interaction and joint planning, programs are
developed to address the intellectual, spiritual, physical, psychological and
social needs of the residents.
Staff members maintain communication with social and health agencies for the
elderly in order to insure supportive services for anyone who qualifies and who
wishes this aid. Likewise, preventative health care services are available so
that residents can remain functionally independent and can experience a creative
giving stage of life as long as possible.
A cooperative spirit among all within the apartment operation helps that the
residents know a meaningful leisure life.
