St. John's Music

Sunday Services include the celebration of Holy Communion and primarily use
the Lutheran Book of Worship. On the first Sunday of the month, the
liturgy is from With One Voice. The Saturday evening service in the
chapel includes a celebration of Holy Communion.
St. John's Lutheran Church continues a strong musical tradition in worship.
The Pipe Organ is one of the largest organs in Erie. The organ features an Echo
Chamber over the sanctuary balcony, a unique feature and rare in the United
States. In 2001, the organ received many improvements including a new console,
electronics, MIDI, and new stops thanks to the Martin Memorial Fund.
The Senior Choir, under the direction of Michael Dean, sings at 10:45 AM
Worship and rehearses on Thursday evenings.
The Children's Choir sings on
Festival Sundays and special occasions such as Reformation Sunday, Easter, and
Pentecost Sunday.
The Hand Bell Choir, under the direction of Michael Dean, also adds special
music regularly.
The Music Department is under the direction of Michael Dean.
The organist is Kathrine Swanson.
